Free-Range
As with the Outdoor Reared pork there is no legal definition of the term Free-Range. Pig Welfare campaigners say some free-range pigs are born outside but spend most of their time being fattened inside. Others are even born indoors.
However Julia Wrathall, head of farm animal policy at the RSPCA, said: “We think it is time for a legal definition and as far as we are concerned meat labelled free-range must be from a pig that has spent its whole life outdoors.”
All our pork meets this definition. Our pigs are free to fulfil their basic instincts, that is to wallow, root and forage, whilst at the same time having access to shelter from the wind, rain and sun.
